Mousey

So, I made a couple of purchases tonight, and I thought I might share.

I bought UT3 for the PS3. I typically hate playing FPSs on a console, but my machine just doesn't have the flat out balls required to run UT3 in a pretty fashion (it ran the beta well enough, but there were definitely some lag issues). So I figured, after all the hype around the PS3, surely it can run it in super prettiness.

It also supports a USB keyboard and mouse, which was absolutely imperative.

So the verdict? Well, the game feels...*darker* on the PS3. I can't quite explain it, but I have the in game brightness/gamma cranked up, and it's still too dark to accurately make out combatants from across the field, which is irritating.

Also, the visual quality is a resounding "meh". I mean, it looks ok, but compared to the quality (at a decent frame rate) I could get on my desktop, it's about par. Until you factor in the darkness (Charlie Murphy).

I also bought a Logitech MX 518 mouse. It's inexpensive, it tracks remarkably well, it's wired (I can't make myself like using wireless), and the extra retard-o buttons are unobtrusive. I hate all the extra buttons they insist on putting on new mice. It seems like your only option is either buying a cheap POS three button/shitty scroll wheel, or buying a nice mouse with a half dozen "feature" buttons. Seriously, do I need volume control on my goddamn mouse?

Finally, I bought a USB to serial adapter. More on this later.
